THERE were personal bests galore for Warrington Athletics Club members as the UK Youth Development League kicked off on Saturday.

Club members also achieved 16 performances of AAA Grade standard at Leigh Sports Village, with wins for under 15s Ashley Nemits (300m) and Meg Corker (75m) and a second place for Orla Gregory (1500m) among them.

Corker also set a new long jump personal best with a leap of 4.54m and finished third in the 100m.

In the B finals in the same age group, there were B event wins for Jess Connolly (1500m) and Olivia Chamun (shot put).

Jadon Allen was the club’s only individual winner in the boys’ under 15s – winning the 100m in a new personal-best time of 12.1secs – but he also anchored the 4x100m relay team to victory alongside Gus Schofield, Tom McKean and Daniel Hardman.

Amelia Smithers was an impressive winner in the girls’ under 13s age group, storming to victory in the A 800m in a personal-best 2mins 34.6secs.

Molly Wormald won the B 1200m race, while Emily Entwistle was second in the A race over the same distance.

In a non-scoring 800m race, Alice Nicholson won in 2mins 52.6secs, with clubmate Harriet Bell third.
