YELLOWS guaranteed themselves a home play-off semi-final by taking a point from their trip to Lincolnshire on Tuesday night.

They had to survive the final stages with 10 men as Mekhi Leacock-McLeod was dismissed for a second booking, but they held on to claim a share of the spoils.

Town are now guaranteed to finish second or third, meaning their semi-final tie will be played at Cantilever Park, and they need only a point from their final regular season game to secure the runners-up spot.

The visitors had the ball in the back of the net in the first half when Gerard Kinsella netted the rebound after Joe Piggott headed against the post, but the flag had already gone up for offside.

Paul Carden’s side had to clear a goalmouth scramble before the break and Grantham headed a simple chance wide after the interval.

Then, the hosts were handed the initiative when Leacock-McLeod prevented them from taking a free kick quickly, earning him a second yellow card.

Try as they might, however, Grantham could not find a winner as Town closed out their clean sheet.

The sides may well meet again in the play-offs, possibly in Tuesday’s semi-final depending on how Saturday’s results turn out.
