Eccleston Lions 0 Burtonwood Bridge 28

BURTONWOOD Bridge warmed up for next week’s ‘derby’ with Woolston Rovers A with a comfortable win at Eccleston.

Four of Bridge’s six tries came after the interval, with Will Weir’s late double following earlier efforts from Tom Robinson and Jacob Almond.

Before the break, Ross Young had opened the scoring with a try he converted himself before Almer Salvilla got himself across.

Bridge now welcome unbeaten Rovers to Fir Tree Lane on Saturday, kick off 2.30pm.

“I thought the effort applied by the boys after half time was a real turnaround from what was one of those very nearly first halves.

“It’s pleasing for me to see how much improvement we have made defensively. It’s a part of the game that we have gave a lot of our time to in recent training sessions.

“We will take on board where we did well today, and then work hard on the parts where we need to improve this week at training.”
