Eastmoor Dragons 10 Woolston Rovers 10

LEWIS Hoarty kept his cool to slot a last-gasp conversion to earn a depleted Woolston Rovers side a draw at Eastmoor Dragons.

Trailing 10-4 going into the last minute, Dan Fearnley crossed in the corner to set Hoarty up for his nerve-wracking touchline kick to secure a share of the spoils.

Debutant Lewis Melia had earlier scored for Rovers, who travelled to Yorkshire with just 15 players due to various work commitments.

Despite being down on numbers, the visitors made a fast start and opened the scoring in the third minute when Melia touched down a cross-field kick from Theo Holt.

That try was cancelled out midway through the first half as Eastmoor winger Chris Boot crossed in the corner to send the sides in level at half time.

Both defences were proving the dominant force as chances proved hard to come by, but the hosts grabbed what they though was their winner on the hour mark.

Substitute Danny Johnson scored from close range, with Adrian Mulcahy adding the conversion to make coming back an uphill struggle for Rovers.

They stuck to their task, however, and finally got their rewards when some quick passing created space for second rower Fearnley to squeeze over.

Hoarty still needed to land the difficult conversion, but he did so with aplomb.

John Fieldhouse’s side welcome Beverley to Sadore Construction Field on Saturday, kick off 2.30pm.
