LATCHFORD Albion will take to the field for the first time this year on Saturday against neighbours Woolston Rovers.
Albion’s first team will face Woolston on the Victoria Park Stadium pitch at 2.30pm, while the Alliance side host Rylands Sharks on the adjacent pitch at 2pm.
And Warrington Wolves’ under 19s facing Hull FC at noon will make it a great day of rugby.
Ahead of the games, Albion head coach Lee Smith said: “In pre-season the squad has been putting in a fantastic effort and we will hopefully show our strengths against a strong Woolston side who potentially are further progressed with their 2018 plans than ourselves having already played a warm-up game.
“I hope the game will also show us any areas of our game where we are lacking, and we can then look at strengthening ahead of an important league campaign.
“We know this season is not a sprint and, with the new league structure, we know if we can keep a good level of consistency then we will be competitive each week.
“The test this weekend will be perhaps the toughest of the year until we potentially lock horns again at the end of the season in the Warrington Cup, so I am sure this game will have a host of positives whether in victory or defeat.
“I must also pay tribute to the commitment of all of the players.”
