STEVE Price says Kevin Brown’s head injury is “nothing too serious” but that he is being monitored closely ahead of The Wire’s visit to Huddersfield Giants on Thursday.

Brown was withdrawn from the opening-day defeat to Leeds Rhinos on Thursday and did not return to the action, with Declan Patton taking his place.

The England half-back has a history of head injuries and Price says they are following the correct procedures for his return to action.

The Wire head coach also said Chris Hill, who left part way through the Leeds game after wife Kathryn went into labour, had returned to training having been given time off to spend with new baby daughter Iris-Kay.

“Family comes first in that situation and Chris had all our backing as a club,” he said.

“It was wonderful news for him and Kathryn.

“He had the day off the following day to spend some quality time with Kathryn and the baby but he’s back in training now.

“There’s a protocol to follow with Kev, but it was nothing too serious.

“We’re just going through the correct stages at present.”

Price also issued updates on injured trio Sitaleki Akauola, Dom Crosby and Toby King ahead of the trip to the John Smith’ Stadium.

“Sita and Dom definitely won’t play this week. They’re getting very close but it’s a week-to-week proposition with them,” he said.

“They’re doing everything right and they’re very hungry to throw the jersey on.

“Toby King trained fully with us today so he’s very, very close also.”

Price will name his full 19-man squad for the game tomorrow.
