STEVE Price says he is excited to experience The Halliwell Jones Stadium for the first time in Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Salford Red Devils.

The game is Wolves’ first and only home trial game before the 2018 Super League season kicks off in two weeks.

Having only experienced training sessions at The Wire’s home ground previously, Price says the things he has heard about the atmosphere at matches has him keen to see it for himself.

“I’m really excited, to be honest. Every person I’ve spoken to tell me that it’s a fantastic atmosphere,” he said.

“Even when there’s a couple of thousand people there, I’m told it sounds like there’s 15-20,000 in the stadium.

“I can’t wait to get out there and experience a great home fanbase.”

Having blended youth with experience in his two previous friendlies against Widnes Vikings and Rochdale Hornets, Price is set to go with something close to a first-choice team for the meeting with Ian Watson’s Red Devils.

Ahead of the game, Price revealed what he expects from his players on Saturday.

“I want us to keep growing in the areas we’ve been emphasising in pre-season,” he said.

“We need to do the little things right and play hard.

“It’s going to take a little bit of time, but it’s about growing together and doing things better each week. That’s all you can ask for.

“There were building blocks from last week’s game that I was really pleased with, so we need to take that and keep growing from there.”
