Eagle 19 Old Bedians 10
COACH Dan Cahill says Eagle can go into Saturday’s clash with unbeaten league leaders Garstang with confidence after racking up their fifth league win in a row.
Old Bedians were the latest side to leave Thornton Road empty-handed as the hosts continued a run that has propelled them to second in the Lancs/Cheshire Division Three North table.
Their hosts on Saturday have won all but one of their nine games and Cahill admits his side face a stiff test.
“How the players kept going in sleet, snow and freezing mud just shows the determination of this team to win,” he said.
“We had some key players missing, but that really didn’t show.
“We travel to league leaders Garstang next week, and getting a win there against an unbeaten team will be a challenge but we are going with confidence.”
With talismanic scrum-half Jason Jackson missing, Dan Pucill stepped in to control play well, getting himself on the scoresheet for the second game running.
Simon Counsell and Scott Gerrard also crossed the whitewash at Thornton Road, with Kieran Thomas kicking two conversions.
