Warrington piled on the pressure and got their rewards from another short corner, with Kate Connolly hitting the net with a gine strike.

The women’s seconds were victorious, winning 3-0 against Buckley’s firsts at Priestley College.

Becky Miller put them ahead before half-time before Vicky Stout’s solo goal put them in further command.

Rebecca Wells scored her first goal for the club shortly after, converting the rebound after Molly Rudd had hit the post.

The men’s first team were beaten 6-3 by a strong Liverpool John Moores University team, with keeper Rich Bloomfield helping them avoid a heavier defeat.

Adam Garrod, Doug Samuels and Ben Vickers got on the scoresheet for Warrington to keep the scoreline respectable.
