RYLANDS FC head to title-challenging Knutsford Tomorrow, Friday, buoyed a by a derby win.

Darren Davies' side overturned Eagle Sports at Gorsey Lane last time out and another tough opponent awaits them at Manchester Road.

Rylands defeated Eagle courtesy of an early header from Dylan Glass.

“It was a game played in typical derby fashion where the result could have gone either way with a bit of class from Dylan Glass being the difference," said Davies.

"We had to dig in late on and showed good character to hold out and secure the three points.

"It was great to have Mark Keddie back in after a lay-off with injury.

"We now look forward to another tough game at Knutsford.”

The derby was contested in front of a bumper crowd at Gorsey Lane.

Rylands broke the deadlock inside the first 10 minutes when Glass headed home brilliantly from a pinpoint Euan Woods corner.

The blues looked to have doubled the advantage soon after when Glass had the ball in the back of the net, only to be denied by an offside flag.

The game continued to be open and Eagle nearly levelled through Brisco but the returning Conor Yarwood was on-hand to make a terrific save.

The pace slowed down in the second half, with Eagle holding the majority of possession, but it was Rylands who had the chances.

James Daniels hit the crossbar with a header before being denied by the ‘keeper when one-on-one and Glass had another effort ruled out for offside.

At the other end, Eagle missed two good headed chances when well placed, with one being headed over the bar and another straight into the arms of Yarwood.

The blues saw out the remainder of the game to secure the three points.
