WARRINGTON Athletics Club’s under 20s star Harriet Knowles-Jones finished fourth in the women's senior race of the British Athletics Cross Challenge at Teardrop Lakes in Milton Keynes.

Her time of 20mins 16secs was 24 seconds behind race winner Jess Judd.

Clubmate Robert Dykes travelled to Greece to make his debut over the marathon distance.

Running in the Athens Marathon, over the same course as the Olympic Marathon from Marathon to Athens, the 19-year-old - whose normal race distance is 800m - finished 1,202nd out of more than 17,000 in very hot and humid conditions.

His time was 3hrs 34mins 29secs.

Two Warrington Athletic Club runners competed for Loreto Grammar School, Altrincham, in the English Schools Cross Country Cup at Casterton Sedbergh Preparatory School in Casterton Kirby Lonsdale.

In the junior race Amelia Smithers finished in 28th place but was not in the counting runners for the team which finished in second place to qualify for the final on November 25.

Siobhan Gregory finished 23rd in the intermediate race, helping the team to qualify second for the final to be held at Sevenoaks.

Warrington AC's under 20s runner Katie Lowery, competing for her Edinburgh University team in the Scottish Short Course Cross Country Championships at Kirkaldy High School, Fife, finished 20th in 14mins 38secs in the senior/junior 4k race won by Olympian Laura Muir (Glasgow University) in 12mins 53secs.

Katie finished as the sixth under 20 in the race and was third counter for the winning Edinburgh University team.
