ANDREW Henderson is hoping to help Warrington Wolves get back to the ‘upper echelons’ of Super League in his new role as the club’s assistant coach.

The 2017 season saw the then London Broncos head coach come up against The Wire during the Qualifiers after Warrington fell to their lowest Super League finish in eight years.

But Henderson believes ‘the ingredients are there’ for the club to once again taste the success it previously had under Tony Smith.

He said: “When I went to London they were at rock bottom – it was disjointed and disconnected, and I had to bring it all together and build it up.

“But here we already have strong foundations and a strong infrastructure in place, a really talented playing roster, a really talented head coach and some really good people to support him.

“The ingredients are there, and now it’s just about getting a bit of confidence and belief back into that playing group and getting smiles back on faces.

“So far on the training field, there has been a really positive vibe and a good energy about the place.

“There is some real hope, and a lot of people are seeing this as a new era with new beginnings and a fresh start.

“We want to go and really have a crack next year – I’m hopeful that we can change perceptions of the club, get it back to the upper echelons and strive for excellence and success.

“I do like a challenge and I think Warrington are one of the biggest clubs in Super League – I know that didn’t show on the field last season but they are, and the opportunity to come here and have a positive influence appealed to me.”
