RYLANDS’ defensive woes continued as they were edged out in a nine-goal thriller in the Cheshire League Premier Division on Saturday.

They were beaten 5-4 by Congleton VR at Gorsey Lane, meaning they have conceded 18 goals in their past four games in all competitions.

Euan Woods scored twice for Blues, with Dylan Glass and an own goal providing the other goals for the hosts.

Meanwhile, Liam McLaughlin was on fire for Orford in League Two as he hit the net four times in their 7-1 victory over St Helens Town Reserves.

Liam Moran, George Unsworth and Daniel Wilcock were also on the scoresheet for the hosts.

All other games involving Warrington teams scheduled for Saturday were postponed due to waterlogging.

Greenalls PSO’s trip to Ashton Town and Daten’s game at Halebank both fell victim to the weekend’s wet weather.

Cheshire League fixtures, Saturday, kick off 2pm:

Premier Division: Congleton VR v Greenalls PSO, Eagle Sports v Knutsford.

League One: Egerton v Daten.

League Two: Grappenhall Sports v Unicorn Athletic, Orford v Ford Motors.
