DATEN’S promotion challenge in the Cheshire League goes from strength to strength as they moved top of League One on Saturday.

With rivals Egerton not in action, the Atoms took full advantage with a 5-1 hammering of Garswood United.

Adam McLoughlin and Michael Sullivan both scored twice for the hosts in Culcheth, with substitute Luke Fisher also on the scoresheet.

Daten, whose points tally moves to 20, now lead the division on goal difference from Styal, with Egerton and Middlewich Town a point further back.

Elsewhere, Greenalls PSO slipped to the bottom of the Premier Division on Saturday as they felt the full force of one of the division’s strongest sides.

Their 7-0 loss at Whaley Bridge, who are level on points with Knutsford at the top of the league, coupled with Altrincham Reserves’ win over Denton Town dropped Greens to the foot of the table.

Rylands’ losing run stretched to three games in all competitions as they fell to a 4-1 defeat to Ashton Town at Gorsey Lane.

Blues drop to seventh in the Cheshire League Premier Division as a result.

Eagle Sports are in action tonight, Tuesday, as travel to Ashton Town. Kick off is at 7.45pm.

In League Two, Grappenhall Sports picked up a point at home as they drew 1-1 with Blacon Youth, with Jordan Rigby grabbing Sports’ goal.

However, Moore United were on the end of a heavy 3-0 home defeat to Vulcan.

The Reserves Division saw Luke Sutton score twice for Eagle Sports Reserves in their 4-1 win over their Pilkington counterparts, with Olly Fleming and Gerrard McAllister also scoring.

However, Rylands Reserves were beaten 3-0 at league leaders Knutsford A.
