Lymm 40 Birkenhead Park 0

ADAM Fletcher says his Lymm side are refusing to get carried away with their perfect start but are “enjoying it to the maximum.”

Their latest victory, in which they kept Birkenhead Park off the scoresheet at Crouchley Lane, was their sixth from as many league games and keeps them top of the Northern Premier.

Richard McEvoy and Lucas Titherington both scored twice for Lymm, who triumphed despite being without a number of first-team players.

“The lads have performed to the standards that we set in pre-season,” Fletcher said.

“They are enjoying their rugby, playing with smiles on their faces and reaping the rewards.

“We are not getting carried away and will take every game as it comes.

“At the moment we deserve to be top and will enjoy it to the maximum.”

Lymm, who were already missing Gavin Woods and Will Baldwin, lost Oli Higginson and Will Titherington shortly before kick off but still roared out of the traps.

McEvoy opened his side’s account 10 minutes in when he finished off Andy Davies’ break before a similar exchange saw Ali Sutherland wander in between the posts.

The visitors were struggling to lay a hand on their rampant hosts, with McEvoy the beneficiary again after the ball went through several pairs of hands for him to touch down.

Lymm secured their bonus point before half time when, after several impressive offloads, Titherington finally ended the move by crossing in the corner.

Park came out of their shell in the second half and almost monopolised possession, but did little with it.

Sitting on a comfortable lead, the hosts seemed content to use it as a test for their defence and they duly repelled everything the visitors threw at them.

However, with 10 minutes remaining, Fletcher’s men decided the time was right to press for more points and, with Davies leading the charge again, Matty Hands put Joe Watson over in the corner.

Titherington was again the final recipient of another sweeping move to round off the scoring, with Cormac Nolan’s kick making it five goals out of six for him and pushing Lymm to the 40-point mark.

The Crouchley Lane outfit switch focus to the Cheshire Vase on Saturday when they travel to Wirral, kick off 3pm.

MUCH like the first team, Lymm’s seconds are still unbeaten and kept that record going on their tricky trip to Rossendale.

Luke Critchley raced up the wing to give the visitors the lead before fellow wideman Jorge Reynolds scored on the other flank before the break, with Tom Shard expertly converting the latter’s try from the touchline.

As the minutes ticked down, Jake Ashall then intercepted a quick tap penalty to race between the posts, leaving Shard with the simple task of converting.
