SIMON Coupe came through a star-studded field to take victory in the Mike Roach Memorial Classic at Woolston Social.
The Preston bowler produced a late comeback to pip Birmingham’s Ben Harris to victory in the final and the top prize of £900.
All England champion Darren Plenderleith was beaten by Harris in the semi-finals, while Greg Smith, widely regarded as the game’s number one player, was beaten in the last eight.
The competition was run in aid of St Rocco’s Hospice and a total of £1,975 was raised.
