LEIGH Centurions are a “dangerous” side who will be “desperate” for a victory over Wolves on Saturday, Wire boss Tony Smith says.

Neil Jukes’ side arrive at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on the back of a damaging 24-8 home loss to Widnes Vikings on Sunday.

They sit fourth in the Middle 8s table, with only the top three sides guaranteed a place in Super League for next season.

Leigh will be missing the likes of Ben Reynolds and Daniel Mortimer on Saturday, but Smith says victory for his side is far from a foregone conclusion.

“You have to assume they will be desperate for the points,” he said.

“Regardless of their position, they are a good team that have beaten some good teams this year and have already beaten us once.

“We’re expecting a good performance from them and when they do that, they are very dangerous.

“We won’t be taking them for granted.”
