GRAPPENHALL are still in danger of relegation from the Cheshire County League Premier Division after losing to Didsbury on Saturday.
The 62-run defeat at Broad Lane means they sit eighth in the table, 20 points outside the danger zone with five more games to play.
Grappers fielded first having won the toss, but Didsbury were able to build up a solid score with plenty of batsmen contributing runs.
Sam Guest was the pick of the home bowlers as he took 3-50, with skipper Adam Roylance and Arran McCabe claiming two wickets each as the visitors were dismissed for 238.
Opener James McCoy got Grappers’ reply off to a solid start with a run-a-ball 66, but nobody else was able to stay in long enough to offer him support.
The hosts were dismissed for 176 and now face a crucial trip to fellow strugglers Bramhall on Saturday.
Elsewhere, Ross Arrowsmith was the star of the show for Grappers’ seconds as they hammered Widnes by 10 wickets.
Arrowsmith ripped through the Widnes batting order, taking 7-17 to help dismiss them for just 40.
The Grappenhall openers reached their target with ease to record a comfortable victory.
The result means Grappers stay in the promotion places with three games remaining ahead of Saturday’s home game against their Bramhall counterparts.
The thirds visit Nantwich on Sunday.
