Stanley Rangers 12 Woolston Rovers 32

JOHN Fieldhouse hailed “a professional display” from his Woolston Rovers side as they recorded their fourth victory in a row.

Sean Conway, Lewis Hoarty and Harry Files crossed before the break for Rovers before Dan Fearnley, James Jones and Glyn Roberts wrapped up the win in the second half.

Roberts also added four goals and Fieldhouse was pleased with his side’s display.

While Rovers racked up a good number of points, their head coach highlighted their work at the other end of the field as particularly pleasing.

“It was a good win for us with some great defensive efforts by the boys,” he said.

“We had to do plenty of defending in the final quarter but we coped really well with that and kept our line intact.

“Overall it was a professional display and a very important two league points.”

Theo Holt, playing his first game for the club since re-joining from Rylands, was instrumental in Rovers’ first two tries, sending both Conway and Hoarty over in the right corner.

Files forced his way over from Fearnley’s pass before Liam Grimmett got Stanley on the board just before the break.

Rovers refocused in the second half and Fearnley raced 70 metres to get his name on the scoresheet.

Jones, another player to join from Rylands, crashed over between the posts before turning provider by breaking through and finding Roberts in support to score after Grimmett had doubled his tally for the hosts.
