PAUL Carden says it will take “a bit more fine tuning” for Warrington Town to hit top form.

Yellows have returned a solid four points from their first two Evo-Stik Premier Division games ahead of two more fixtures this week, starting with a trip to Coalville Town on Saturday, kick off 3pm.

Carden’s side then welcome Ashton United to Cantilever Park on Tuesday night, kick off 7.45pm.

The Town boss says their performances in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Rushall Olympic and Tuesday’s 2-2 draw at Lancaster City have been promising but is adamant there is more to come.

“There are still teams that haven’t got a point yet, so we have to be happy with four points,” he said.

“We still haven’t found that true cohesion yet but that will come in time.

“We’ve been doing enough in games, but we know we can do better and that is a good thing.

“There’s a bit more fine tuning to be done, but once everything clicks people will see the best of us.

“We’ll be facing a Coalville side on Saturday who will be desperate to get off the mark for the season having lost both of their games.

“We’ve had them watched and they’ve been on the wrong end of some tight results, but that’s the nature of this league.

“We’ve got to make sure we keep them on zero, then we can be happy with a return of seven points from three games.”

Ruben Jerome and Josh Hine opened their accounts for the season on Tuesday as Yellows twice took the lead but were pegged back by Gavin Clark’s brace for Lancaster, the second of which came in second-half injury time.

That came after Connor Hughes and Joe Mwasile had marked their competitive debuts with goals against Rushall at Cantilever Park.

“It was important for the forward players to get off the mark early. It will do their confidence a lot of good,” Carden said.

“Once they get a bit more understanding of each other and how I want them to play, there will be many more goals.

“They compliment each other, we’re already seeing signs of that and it can only improve with time.

After a summer in which several new players have been brought in, the latest being defender Caleb Richards on a month’s youth loan from Blackpool, Carden says he doesn’t anticipate any more new arrivals.

“I’m happy with where the squad is at, bearing in mind we still have players to come back,” he said.

“We still have Shaun Beeley, Jack Higgins and Ged Kinsella to come back into consideration when they are fit again.

“Once they are back, we’ll have plenty of depth and healthy competition for places.”
