WARRINGTON Revolution just missed out on winning a trophy on home soil in a flag football tournament they organised.

The team, led by head coach Anthony Lloyd, reached the final of the V Day Flag Football tournament, which was held at Gorse Covert Primary School in Birchwood.

Sadly for Warrington, however, they were beaten to the title by the Northants Titans, who ended the tournament unbeaten.

Warrington were involved in one of the day’s stand-out games after a last-minute touchdown saw them beat Wigan Bandits in the semi final.

Despite trailing for much of the game, Wigan took a 13-12 lead that looked likely to book them a place in the final until the Revolution’s late intervention.

One of the tournament’s six competitors, the Rugby Raccoons, made national news as they were spotted warming up on the M6 after encountering heavy traffic en route to Warrington.
