RAIN once again denied Appleton Tigers the chance of victory after they put themselves in a promising position against Chester Boughton Hall.
After a watchful start, Laura Jackson (70 not out) and Emma Barlow (49) hit the accelerator to propel Appleton to a score of 149-2 from their 40 overs.
However, the bad weather arrived to wipe out the rest of the game for the second week in succession.
The abandonment is a blow to Appleton’s hopes of catching league leaders Oakmere, who lead them by 59 points having played two games more.
The Tigers welcome Didsbury to Lyons Lane on Sunday.
Appleton are also hosting a women’s softball cricket event in an effort to get more women involved in the game.
The event, named ‘Prosecco Cricket’, takes place at Lyons Lane on Friday, August 18, between 6pm and 8pm.
