BRAD Dwyer’s departure could put Wolves in the market for a new hooker, head of coaching and rugby Tony Smith says.

It was confirmed last week that the 24-year-old dummy-half would be leaving The Wire at the end of 2017 to join Leeds Rhinos on a two-year deal.

Dwyer has not featured in Wolves’ past three games, with 18-year-old Morgan Smith impressing in rotation with starting hooker Daryl Clark.

While stressing how pleased he was with Smith’s progress, the Wire boss says they are assessing what may be available in the transfer market.

“We could possibly be in the market for a new hooker,” he said.

“We’ve got young Morgan Smith coming through and he’s doing really well, but we will continue looking.

“Brad Dwyer goes with our blessing. He’s been a tremendous competitor for us.

“He’s very keen to ensure he finishes his time here in the best possible way.”
