MARK Brennan admits his Crosfields side are “low on confidence” but has backed his players to emerge stronger from their tough run of form.

Saturday’s 28-16 defeat to Leigh East makes it six games without a win for Soap, with their last success coming way back on May 13 at Drighlington.

The loss at Hood Lane means Brennan’s side slip to seventh in National Conference League Division Two having led the table for much of the campaign’s earlier stages.

Brennan says the team’s performances in training make their current slump even harder to explain.

The Soap boss has backed the team to end their poor run soon but has called on them to stick together.

“As a group, we are gutted about how we are performing,” he said.

“We are low on confidence and nothing is sticking at the minute for us.

“It’s hard as training is going really well and we are working hard. We look sharp and focused but we’re just missing that edge about us.

“All great teams have tough patches and we will come out of it stronger, but we need to stick together as a group.”
