STUART Barrow says Wolves under 19s’ defeat to City of Hull on Saturday was his side’s “poorest display of the season.”

Ryan Jones and Ellis Gillam crossed in either half for the hosts, but they were comfortably beaten at Victoria Park.

In a scathing indictment of his team’s display, head coach Barrow admitted his side were “totally dominated.”

“That was our poorest display of the season,” he said.

“It is so disappointing after the way we had played away from home in the previous two games.

“We were totally dominated from the off and we can have no excuses whatsoever.”

Two tries from Harry Hutchinson and one each from Will Oakes and Jordan Lane had Hull 22-0 up before Wolves mustered their first points of the game.

Joe Edge played a long ball to Jones, who was able to squeeze over in the left corner, but Oakes’ penalty made it 24-4 at half time.

Elliot Wallis’ 90-metre effort evaporated all hope of a Wolves comeback, but they did score a consolation try when Gillam forced his way over on the right, with Edge adding the extras.

This was as good as it got for Warrington as Oakes crossed twice in the final 10 minutes to complete a hat-trick of tries.

Barrow’s side travel to Wigan Warriors on Saturday, kick off 2pm.
