Warrington Wolves u19 16 Catalans Dragons u19 26

STUART Barrow believes Saturday's defeat to Catalans Dragons was "a little unfair" on Wolves' under 19s.

The scores were level at 16-16 moving into the final quarter at Victoria Park, but the French side were able to squeeze home.

Conor Taylor, Charlie Phythian and Ryan Jones scored tries for The Wire, with Joe Edge adding two conversions.

"I was very proud of the effort from all of the players today," head coach Barrow said.

"We were up against a very good Catalans side and I thought we more than matched them for most of the game.

"The scoreline is a little unfair on the boys as they definitely deserved to get something out of the game but it wasn’t to be.

"We will learn massively from today and hopefully we can take this performance forward into our remaining games."

Luca Vergniol opened the scoring for the Dragons in the second minute but Wolves took just five minutes to level when Taylor found a gap and stepped round the defence to touch down.

Corentin Le Cam crashed over to give the visitors the lead again before Thomas Perez crossed in the right corner.

Wolves created pressure and Harry Reardon put Phythian over just before the break and Jones' acrobatic effort in the second half pulled them level.

However, Lucas Albert's penalty and Fabien Flovie's try put the French side in control before another Albert two-pointer sealed victory.

Barrow's side travel to Huddersfield Giants on Saturday, kick off 2pm.
