BIRCHWOOD’S Phil Archer will represent Great Britain and Ireland as they compete against the United States in September.
Archer is part of the 10-man team that will take on their transatlantic rivals in the biennial PGA Cup.
The matchplay competition, played over a similar format to the Ryder Cup, will take place at Foxhills Resort in Surrey, starting on September 15.
Four-time European Tour runner-up Archer will bring plenty of experience to the team, which will be captained by Albert Mackenzie.
The 45-year-old has played at the US Open and the Open Championship and also has matchplay experience representing Great Britain and Ireland.
He was part of the GB&I team that beat Continental Europe to win the Seve Trophy in 2007.
