WARRINGTON slipped to yet another defeat on Saturday, this time at the hands of Cheshire County League Division One leaders Oulton Park.

After being invited to bat first by their hosts, Warrington recovered from the early loss of Brad Roden to start building a decent score.

Opener Mally Agar top-scored with 78 for the visitors, with Johan Els also passing the half-century mark before he was dismissed for 57.

Brad McIntosh added a valuable knock of 38 as Warrington closed on 204-8 from their allotted overs.

However, at Oulton Park's small ground, that total never looked like being enough to topple the in-form hosts.

McIntosh's spin bowling earned him figures of 3-70, but the hosts cruised to a six-wicket victory with 11 overs to spare.

The loss was Warrington's fourth in succession and they remain in the Division One relegation zone.

Saturday sees them welcome Weaverham, the only side below them in the table, to Walton Lea in a crucial clash.

The seconds played out a thrilling tie against their Oulton Park counterparts at Walton Lea.

After losing the toss, the hosts were put into bat and, despite plenty of them getting starts, none of their batsmen were able to make a major score.

Rob Dempster top-scored with 35, while Mark Ewing hit an unbeaten 27 as Warrington closed on 156-8.

However, their bowlers relished the task of defending a low total and took wickets at regular intervals.

Phil Whelan and Isaac Webster took three wickets each, with Dempster and Harley Barrett both chipping in with two scalps as Oulton Park were dismissed for 156, meaning the spoils were shared.

The thirds drew with neighbours Appleton after making 180-5 when batting first, with Billy Gilbert starring with a knock of 67.

Mike Fagan-Hall took 4-52 with the ball, but Appleton's final pair held on to close on 155-9.

The fourths did manage to claim a six-wicket victory at Styal after bowling their hosts out for just 113, with Bruce Jardene returning figures of 4-17.

Arshan Dadrulla make 60 in reply as Warrington reached their target in the 33rd over.

The seconds travel to neighbours Grappenhall on Saturday, with the thirds visiting Kingsley and the fourths hosting Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge.
