TONY Smith insists he will not resign after rumours about his future circulated following Monday’s 38-12 defeat to Salford Red Devils.

The Wire have conceded 78 points in back-to-back defeats over the weekend, leading to calls from fans for Smith to leave the club.

A post on Wolves’ official Facebook page appeared to announce his departure, but Smith came out fighting in his post-match press conference.

“I’m still here. I don’t give up that easily,” he said.

“If rugby was all smiles and roses throughout your career, there wouldn't be many of us around.

“I'm just disappointed with the way we played. We as a group haven't played well enough over this weekend.

“We started with some promise, didn't convert that into points and heads dropped. It was similar to Friday’s game in that respect.”

Wolves said that the 'announcement' on their Facebook page of Smith departing as head coach was the result of their account being hacked.
