WOOLSTON Rovers will hold their third annual charity day for Ronald McDonald House (Alder Hey) on Saturday at their Monks Sports Club home on Hillock Lane.

An under sevens tournament will kick off the activities from noon, followed by a past versus present match for the Noah Horrigan Trophy taking centre stage at 2pm.

Various teams will be running stalls and there will be a raffle too.

An auction in Monks’ club will lead to a social event at The Bear and Bottle in Mersey Street, where licensee and former Rovers player Allen Wilkinson will host an evening headlined by local band ‘The Lookouts.'

Rovers chairman and former player Liam Horrigan's son Noah was treated at Alder Hey after being born with a congenital heart defect.

Liam said: “After last year’s event Noah, my wife Louise and I had the privilege of being invited back to ‘Mac House’ to hang a plaque to name the newly built Noah Horrigan wing.

"This was an honour for everybody connected with the Woolston Rovers family that has pulled together to help make some of the toughest times some families will go through, that little bit more bearable.

"Although Saturday will be the ninth time the Noah Horrigan Trophy game has taken place it will be the third charity day. It has certainly gone from strength to strength.”

Any past players should contact liam.horrigan@yahoo.co.uk to take part in the game.

Tickets, priced £2, for the evening function will be available after Saturday's game. Contact Dave Whalley on 07809 647014 or at whalley_dave@hotmail.com for further details.
