THELWALL’S Aidan Collins is still the frontrunner in the British Flat Track Championships after the competition’s second round.
After winning two of his three heat races in Peterborough, and coming second in the other, the former Lymm High School pupil had second pick of gate positions for the 12-lap final.
He battled for the lead with American racers James Rispoli and Jonny Lewis and eventually finished third.
However, main championship rival Alan Birtwistle finished fourth, so Collins holds a six-point lead in the overall standings.
The third and fourth rounds of the championships will be held at Greenfield, Lincolnshire, on the weekend of June 10-11.
