THE first reverse fixture of the 2017 season sees Wolves travel to East Yorkshire to face Hull FC tonight.

The sides met earlier this month and could not be separated as a second-half comeback from The Wire saw them draw 22-22.

That game features first on our look back at the last five meetings between the two sides.

WOLVES 22 HULL 22: Saturday, April 1, 2017:

TRAILING 20-8 at half time, it looked likely Wolves would record a seventh defeat in a row after Hull took command through tries from Albert Kelly, Jake Connor and Jamie Shaul.

Matty Russell scored a first-half double, which he converted to a hat-trick after Rhys Evans had crossed before the game became a kicking contest between Kurt Gidley and Marc Sneyd.

Neither man could boot his side to victory, allowing Wolves to pick up their first point of the season.

Wolves: Stefan Ratchford; Matty Russell, Toby King, Ryan Atkins, Rhys Evans; Kevin Brown, Kurt Gidley; Chris Hill, Daryl Clark, Mike Cooper, Ben Westwood, Jack Hughes, Joe Westerman. Subs: Ashton Sims, Brad Dwyer, George King, Joe Philbin.

HULL 6 WOLVES 23: Friday, September 23, 2016:

IN a game that decided the fate of the League Leader’s Shield, Wolves took home the trophy for the first time since 2011.

A young and predominantly British side defied the odds to defeat the Black and Whites, with the returning Tom Lineham scoring twice along with a further score from Kevin Penny.

Dec Patton displayed a performance of great control, kicking five goals and a drop goal, to allow The Wire to return from East Yorkshire with the trophy.

HULL 12 WOLVES 10: Saturday, August 27, 2016:

FOUR weeks before their famous night in East Yorkshire, there was Wembley heartache for Wolves.

It looked like being another national stadium victory after Matty Russell and Ben Currie gave them a 10-0 lead after an hour.

However, Mahe Fonua and Jamie Shaul earned Hull their first ever Wembley win, although Danny Houghton’s miraculous tackle to dislodge the ball from Currie’s grasp as he looked set to score was equally important.

Wolves: Stefan Ratchford; Rhys Evans, Toby King, Ryan Atkins, Matty Russell; Kurt Gidley, Chris Sandow; Chris Hill, Daryl Clark, Ashton Sims, Jack Hughes, Ben Currie, Joe Westerman. Subs: George King, Brad Dwyer, Ryan Bailey.

WOLVES 12 HULL 19: Friday, June 10, 2016:

A MEETING of Super League’s top two did not produce the thriller the neutral audience was hoping for.

Gene Ormsby and Chris Sandow scored for Wolves in the first half, but converted scores by Fetuli Talanoa and Mark Minichiello gave the visitors the edge at half time.

Kurt Gidley’s penalty brought the sides level after the break, but a late Gareth Ellis try and Marc Sneyd’s drop goal ensured victory for Lee Radford’s men.

Wolves: Stefan Ratchford; Tom Lineham, Rhys Evans, Ryan Atkins, Gene Ormsby; Kurt Gidley, Chris Sandow; Chris Hill, Daryl Clark, Ashton Sims, Benjamin Jullien, Ben Currie, Joe Westerman. Subs: Brad Dwyer, George King, Sam Wilde, Ryan Bailey.

HULL 26 WOLVES 24: Monday, March 28, 2016:

A PERFECT Easter once again proved elusive for Wolves as Hull inflicted their first defeat of the season.

They looked like recording an eighth win in a row as they led 20-10 at the break through tries from Ryan Atkins, Tom Lineham, Chris Sandow and Kevin Penny.

However, Hull roared back in the second half and a late try from Curtis Naughton secured their victory.

Wolves: Jack Johnson; Tom Lineham, Rhys Evans, Ryan Atkins, Kevin Penny; Stefan Ratchford, Chris Sandow; Chris Hill, Daryl Clark, Ashton Sims, Jack Hughes, Ben Currie, Joe Westerman. Subs: Ben Westwood, George King, Dec Patton, Jordan Cox.
