Lymm 29 Stockport 14

LYMM secured a bonus-point victory over bottom side Stockport at a windy Beechwood on Saturday.

Adam Fletcher’s side secured their third straight win as they look to end the National League Three North season strongly.

After the visitors had crossed early on, Lymm restored parity when Andy Davies spotted a gap and scurried over from 20 metres. Cormac Nolan added the extras.

Just before the break, Jordan Widdrington burrowed over from close range to give the hosts a lead they would not relinquish.

Lymm started the second half brightly and Davies put Toby Phillips over in the corner to give them a 17-7 lead.

However, following several drives, already-relegated Stockport forced their way over for a converted score to narrow the gap to three points.

That was as good as it got for the visitors as they tired late on and Jake Ashall finished off a driving maul to secure Lymm’s bonus point.

Matty Connolly completed the scoring as precision passing allowed them to touch down in the corner, with Nolan adding a difficult conversion.

With two games of the season left, Lymm sit eighth in the table and travel to Morley on Saturday, kick off 3pm.

Lymm: Mike Auden, Adam Bray, Jordan Widdrington, Matty Connolly, Will Baldwin, Jake Ashall, Ali Sutherland, Oli Higginson; Andy Davies, Rhys Jones; Toby Phillips, Rich McEvoy, Mike Floyd, Joe Denman, Cormac Nolan. Subs: Nick Ashton, Jack Harper, Tom Shard.
