WARRINGTON Town have enjoyed a busy deadline day as four new arrivals have joined until the end of the season.

Manager Paul Carden has strengthened at both ends of the field, with strikers Sam Madeley and Kurt Sherlock joining goalkeepers Matt Hodge and Tony Thompson at Cantilever Park.

Madeley, 26, joins from Macclesfield Town having previously spent time at Nantwich Town, Salford City and FC United of Manchester among others.

Sherlock makes the move from Marine having had a prolific career in the North West Counties League for the likes of Formby, Bootle and Runcorn Linnets.

Hodge and Thompson join the club on dual registration agreements from St Helens Town and AFC Fylde respectively to provide cover for Yellows keeper Tony McMillan.

"It was important to strengthen the squad given the position we are in," Carden said.

"It was a difficult afternoon as some of the players on the target list were involved in the playoffs or certainly affecting the run in, and some clubs were carrying injuries.

"We’ve got cover in the important positions and I’m sure the lads will step up and make the difference when it matters."

Chairman Toby Macormac added: "I’m pleased we’ve added to the squad as we enter unchartered territory in the club's history as far as the Premier Division is concerned.

"It’s been a challenging afternoon trying to bring the right additions in when we’re unsure where we’ll be next season and that’s always part of the discussions on deadline day and I know some clubs further up the pyramid who have been unable to bring anyone in and they’re in a similar playoff position.

"We have seven cup finals now and Paul, the staff , players and the fans will be hard at it to get us over the line."
