WOLVES 18 SAINTS 10: Thursday, September 29, 2016:

WHAT a time to end a ‘hoodoo.’ Having won on each of their past seven visits to The Halliwell Jones Stadium, Saints arrived for this Super League semi-final with an air of confidence.

They took a 10-8 lead into half time thanks to Jonny Lomax’s try and three Luke Walsh goals, with Kurt Gidley crossing for The Wire.

However, Tony Smith’s side roared back in the second half, with Stefan Ratchford and Tom Lineham crossing to take Wolves to Old Trafford.

WOLVES 18 SAINTS 20: Thursday, August 4, 2016:

JUST five days after the euphoria of a Challenge Cup semi-final victory, Wolves got their Super 8s campaign off on the wrong foot.

Facing opponents who had enjoyed almost a fortnight’s rest, they fell behind when Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook crossed but Daryl Clark ghosted over from dummy-half to equalise.

Jonny Lomax’s try and Mark Percival’s penalty gave Saints a two-score lead before Jack Hughes put Wolves back in contention.

However, Jordan Turner rampaged over to restore the eight-point gap, but Ryan Atkins’ try almost sparked a late comeback.

In fact, Rhys Evans thought he’d won it with a last-minute try in the corner, but video referee Joe Cobb spotted a foot in touch and Saints took the victory.

SAINTS 4 WOLVES 26: Friday, June 3, 2016:

A NEAR-PERFECT defensive display allowed Wolves to continue their imperious record at Langtree Park.

Despite spending much of the first half on the back foot, The Wire were clinical in attack to open up a 16-0 lead at the break thanks to tries from Ben Currie, Chris Sandow and Ryan Atkins.

After the break, Stefan Ratchford and Rhys Evans crossed within 10 minutes of the restart to put them in complete command, with Jonny Lomax’s late try the only blot on their copybook.

WOLVES 22 SAINTS 25: Friday, April 8, 2016:

A LATE comeback could not quite reel Saints in as Wolves fell to their first home defeat of the season.

With Chris Sandow injured and Kurt Gidley carrying a thigh niggle, Ben Westwood started as the appointed goalkicker and it proved to be the difference as The Wire lost despite outscoring their visitors in terms of tries.

Kevin Penny, Ryan Atkins and Ben Currie had given Wolves a 14-12 lead at the break, with Kyle Amor and Jack Ashworth scoring for Saints.

After the interval, Matty Dawson, Morgan Knowles and a Luke Walsh drop goal looked to have put Saints in an unassailable position, but Penny and Tom Lineham hit back with late tries to give Wolves hope.

However, they could not regain the ball and Saints closed out the win.

SAINTS 16 WOLVES 32: Thursday, September 24, 2015:

2015 was far from a vintage year for Warrington, but they finished it off in style against their near neighbours.

Having fallen behind to Joe Greenwood’s early try, Wolves hit their hosts with six tries and had five more disallowed by the video referee.

Joel Monaghan and Roy Asotasi both crossed on their final appearances in primrose and blue, with Jack Johnson, Chris Hill, Ryan Atkins and Kevin Penny adding the other tries.

Adam Swift and Mark Flanagan added tries for Saints, who were denied the chance to finish in the top two.
