WARRINGTON Town’s current run of form has boss Paul Carden “excited and confident” going into a home double-header.

Yellows, who have won their last four Evo-Stik Premier Division games, welcome Hednesford Town to Cantilever Park on Saturday, kick off 3pm, before hosting play-off rivals Spennymoor Town on Tuesday, kick off 7.45pm.

Carden was appointed as Town’s manager in October and admitted his early games had him nervous but now says any apprehension has well and truly disappeared.

“I said to the lads before the game on Saturday that I’m now confident and excited going into every game and that’s down to them,” he said.

“When I first arrived, I was looking at who we were playing and the squad we had and there was a little bit of apprehension.

“Now, we’ve got a very competitive squad with good players who can all add different things to the team.

“On Saturday, we lost Sean Williams to illness but Danny Ventre and Will Smart battled away in midfield.

“At the moment, no matter how we are playing, we are showing a resilience.

“There will be a game where everything clicks and we are going to turn somebody over in a big way. Hopefully that comes this weekend or on Tuesday, or both!”

Yellows tasted defeat in their game at Hednesford earlier this season but Carden says he is expecting a very different side to arrive at Cantilever Park.

He is expected to give a home debut to new signing Scott Bakkor, who joined last week from Colwyn Bay and made his bow at Sutton Coldfield, and the Yellows boss is excited to see what the Warrington-born attacker will bring to the table.

“Scott caught my eye in a training game we played against Colwyn Bay a few months back,” he said.

“They are having to make some budget cuts, so I spoke to their manager and he said Scott would be available.

“He’s a local lad which is always good to have and he’ll add something different to our attack.

“He’s a bit short of match fitness as he’s not played much football of late so we’ll have to build him up in that respect.

“Hednesford have changed their manager and have brought a lot of new players in.

“They’ve brought Nat Brown in at the back. I played against him and he’s very strong in the air as well as being very experienced.

“We’ve had them watched and they look like a big, physical side, certainly very different to the one we faced earlier this season.

“We have to be aware of that, but if our quicker players can get in behind them, I think we will cause them problems.”
