LONGFORD’S Jesse Lingard continued his superb scoring record at Wembley as he helped Manchester United win the EFL Cup.

The former William Beamont High School pupil scored to give Jose Mourinho’s side a 2-0 lead over Southampton after Zlatan Ibrahimovic had given them the lead.

His 38th-minute strike means he has now scored on all three of his appearances for United at the national stadium, having scored winning goals in last year’s FA Cup Final and Community Shield.

Manolo Gabbiadini’s double allowed Southampton to level the game, but former Penketh United junior Lingard ended up on the winning side when Ibrahimovic’s late goal earned United a 3-2 victory.

Lingard, 24, has scored four goals for United this season and all of them have come in cup competitions.
