Warrington Wolves u19 40 London Broncos u19 10

FOUR tries from second-rower Ellis Gillam helped Wolves’ Under 19s to an ultimately convincing victory on Saturday.

They were made to work for it by a dogged London side at Victoria Park, but further tries from Nathan Ainsworth, Connor Taylor and Will Dagger, who also kicked six goals, ensured Stuart Barrow’s men got their first win of the new campaign.

Wolves got off to the perfect start when Dagger linked into the line to score in the corner after just two minutes, but London hit back quickly when Max Savage spun out of a tackle to cross.

Gillam opened his tally after stepping past two defenders before Gideon Boafo crossed in the corner to bring the Broncos back to within two points.

After Ainsworth burrowed over from dummy-half, Wolves’ Alex Tankard and London’s Daniel Hindmarsh Takji were dismissed for fighting.

However, the hosts hit a purple patch to take the game away from their visitors.

A break up the field was finished off by Gillam in the corner before he completed his hat-trick when Charlie Pythian kept the ball alive to put him clear.

Straight from the restart, Gillam set up Jacob Chamberlain to break through before racing up in support to record his fourth try.

The second-rower’s final score was his third try in a five-minute period and it ended up being the difference, with Taylor brushing off four tacklers to score between the posts and round off the scoring.
