Stourbridge 0 Warrington Town 1

YELLOWS made it back-to-back wins on Monday night as they were impressive victors at promotion-chasing Stourbridge.

Ruben Jerome’s goal in the final quarter of the game ensured Paul Carden’s side moved up to 11th in the Evo-Stik Premier Division and cut the gap between them and a play-off place to just five points.

Town started the game brightly, with Connor McCarthy firing a fizzing shot wide before Sean Williams had an effort beaten away by Glassboys keeper Matt Gould.

Jordan Archer’s turn and shot whistled past the post for the hosts, while James McCarten’s free-kick at the other end was spilled by Gould but away from the lurking Dan Hattersley.

After the break, Will Smart lost his man from a Williams free-kick but he only succeeded in heading over the bar.

Stourbridge then had their best chance when Keyelden Brown's looping header left Yellows stopper Tony McMillan motionless but came back off the post.

However, five minutes after coming off the bench, Jerome made the decisive contribution.

After Smart had flicked on McMillan’s kick, the striker latched onto Michael Monaghan’s reverse pass before unleashing a superb rising effort into the net.

The hosts tried desperately to force an equaliser, but Yellows held on to secure a notable result.
