PAUL Carden wants his depleted Warrington Town side to be winning matches again – starting on Saturday at home to bottom club Skelmersdale, kick off 3pm.

The Yellows are without a victory since the 3-0 success at Frickley on December 6, with a combination of postponements, injuries and suspensions all playing a part.

Carden’s side sit 15th on the Evo-Stik Premier Division ladder, nine points off the play-off places following a 0-0 draw at lowly Corby Town at the weekend.

It represents a slide of nine places, from a position five points off the table toppers, since the former Tranmere boss took over from Stuart Mellish in October.

“Because earlier in the season Warrington didn’t have too many games called off and went out of cups early, we played a lot more league games than many teams which probably left us in a false position,” he said.

“I think Nantwich had seven games in hand and were four points behind us at one point. But that’s not to say that we should have lost the games we’ve lost since.

“We just need to get the form back. We were trying to put things together, and it was just getting going, then we had a spate of injuries and suspensions which couldn’t have all come at a worse time.”

He added: “This has to be one of the most unpredictable leagues knocking about.

“Anybody can beat anybody, there’s so many indifferent results.

“I look at form, and I think Nantwich have had one of the longest runs. Everybody’s winning a couple, drawing, losing, everybody’s form is really up and down and nobody is running away with things.

“You can’t take anything for granted with table positions. Skem beat us before I came here earlier in the season so we can’t rest on our laurels.

“We need to turn Saturday’s result against Corby into the start of an unbeaten run. It’s important we go all-out because I want us to start winning games again.”
