TONY Smith praised his squad for their work in the opening week of Warrington Wolves' warm-weather training camp in Tenerife.

He said: “They’re trying to get everything out of it that they can and we’re really working them hard, but they are doing the work with a smile on their faces.

“It is easy in this sort of climate to work hard with a smile but I’ve been delighted by their approach to the camp.

“They are a great bunch of young blokes with some really good senior players in there as well, they are striving hard for success and that’s what sporting teams should be about.”

One player who has caught Smith’s eye with his performances in sessions is new signing Kevin Brown, who is taking the opportunity to get to know his new teammates.

Brown only signed from Widnes in December, but Smith says he has already made an impact at the club.

“Kev has been terrific and added some class to our attack,” he said.

“He’s a great communicator, he’s excited about being in this squad and they are excited about having him.

“He’s impressed the coaching staff but he’s impressed the players as well. Not only is he a quality player but he’s a quality human being as well.

“He’s got strong desires for success and he’s had a great influence on us.”
