WARRINGTON Town must not think Corby, their opponents this Saturday, will “roll over and die” despite their lowly league position, manager Paul Carden says.

The Yellows travel to Steel Park to take on a side that, despite sitting in the Northern Premier League Premier Division’s relegation zone, have won their past two games.

One of those was an impressive victory over promotion-chasing Spennymoor earlier this month, and Carden is under no illusions about the task facing his side.

“We can’t just look at the league table and think Corby will roll over and die because they won’t,” he said.

“They are fighting for their lives but things just seem to be clicking into gear for them. They’ve had some good results in the past few weeks.

“The players they’ve been able to recruit are of a high standard so we need to be at our best if we’re to come away from there with a positive result.”

With snow forecast for much of the UK over the weekend, Carden will be hoping the weather relents to allow them to finally get back onto the pitch.

His side’s last game was a 2-1 defeat at Ashton United on Boxing Day, but the Yellows’ boss says his side have used their time off productively.

“It hasn’t been ideal but we’ve had some really good sessions that I’m happy with,” he said.

“There’s still a couple of lads with suspensions hanging over them and they will drag on the longer our run without playing goes on.

“We’ve made the most of the time off but we’re ready to get back out there now.”

Skipper Jay McCarten and fellow defender Mitch Duggan are suspended, while Sean Williams is also missing with a broken foot.

Gerard Kinsella (back) and Danny Hattersley (ankle) are also big doubts for the trip to Northamptonshire.

Kick off on Saturday is at 3pm.
