LYMM Hockey Club ladies' first team were frustrated as they could only manage a 1-1 draw with Didsbury Greys firsts on Saturday.

Despite dominating the game for large periods against the team directly below them in the North Hockey Women's League Division One table, Lymm couldn’t close out the game for a vital 3 points.

After captain Lisa Hartley-Woodrow had given the team an early lead, Lymm should have been several more goals up at the break.

Jess Impey, Jess Sutton and Ruby Kelly all worked gaps in the away defence, but an experienced Didsbury side kept disciplined, survived calls for a penalty flick and, with 5 minutes to go, a fast-break saw them plunder an equaliser.

The team now face the tough prospect of a trip to league leaders University of Leeds on Saturday, push back 3pm.

Elsewhere, the ladies' thirds succumbed to a 3-0 home defeat by Wilmslow seconds, who extend their unbeaten streak as a result.

The first half was an end-to-end encounter with both sides having chances to open the scoring, but it remained goalless at the interval.

However, within minutes of the restart, a short corner led to the opening Wilmslow goal and the visitors did not look back from there.

The Cheshire Women's Hockey League Division Three leaders added two more goals to make it 11 wins in a row.

Sixth-placed Lymm travel to Bowdon fifths on Saturday, push back 2pm.
