Garswood United 1 Rylands 4

RYLANDS can still improve on their performance despite comfortably beaten Garswood to maintain their unbeaten away record, boss Darren Davies says.

Jordan Rigby netted a hat-trick for the visitors as they left it late to see off a spirited challenge from the Cheshire Premier Division’s bottom side.

They hit their hosts, who had been reduced to ten men through Daniel Clarke’s red card, with three goals in the final three minutes of the game and Davies admits the result flattered his side.

“I’m delighted to have come away with three points. We didn’t play particularly well and I was disappointed to concede so quickly after taking the lead,” he said.

“It was a real battle throughout and we showed great spirit again.

“The scoreline flatters us a bit and credit to Garswood who battled throughout.”

After a scrappy first half, Rigby sparked the game into life just before the interval when he curled home an excellent left-footed free kick.

However, the hosts hit back almost immediately when a good move was rounded off when Ryan Ormrod headed past Rylands custodian Conor Yarwood.

The second period again started scrappily, but the introduction of Kris Bell and Ben Latham from the bench gave the visitors some momentum.

Rigby had an effort well saved before Clarke was shown a straight red card for a reckless lunge on Tom Gibson.

The visitors pressed for a winner and it finally came with two minutes of normal time left when Bell opened up space for Rigby to fire in at the near post.

Garswood threw men forward, but Rylands picked them off on the counter attack and Mark Keddie squared for Rigby to complete his hat-trick.

Keddie then got himself on the scoresheet to complete the victory.

Rylands: Conor Yarwood, Ryan Duffy, Tom Gibson (Ben Graham, 80), Lee Roberts, David France, James Sinker, Jordan Rigby, Mark Keddie, Michael Sullivan (Kris Bell, 50), Jon Dawson, Ryan Wan (Ben Latham, 50).
