WARRINGTON Rowing Club’s Lucy Glover continued a rise to stardom by breaking her own record over the weekend.

She joined forces with Reading Rowing Club’s Annabel Stevens in a women’s double scull at the British Rowing Senior Championships in Nottingham.

They competed as an under 19s tandem at the National Water Sports Centre, but all of the entries (open, lightweight, under 23s, university and club) raced against each other.

After classifying fifth overall in a time trial, they were then third in the first A/B semi-final.

Glover and Stevens were then fourth in the A final, ranking as the best under 19s combination in the boat class at the regatta).

Their time in the final, 7mins 21.24secs, is a new competition record for an under 19s crew too.

The pair’s time improves on a previous best of 7mins 38.39secs set by Glover and Ellie Davies while representing Warrington at last year’s event.

Glover and Stevens had previously teamed up for Great Britain at the World Junior Championships in August, winning a silver medal in a women’s quad.
