HARRIET Knowles-Jones led the way for Warrington Athletics Club’s senior women's team as they finished 14th in the Northern Road Relay Championships on Sunday.

Knowles-Jones ran the fastest time in the race, held at Sports City, Manchester, completing the third of four legs in 16mins 30secs.

Teammates Katie Lowery, Victoria Ramsbottom and Alysha Goddard all represent the club at under 20s level.

This capped an impressive day for the Warrington athletes, with the under 17s women’s relay trio – Lauren Ferris, Elizabeth Wright and Lauren Goddard – finishing fourth overall.

The B team of Melissa Boyer, Chloe Mason and Isabelle Trevithick closed in 12th.

And the club’s under 15s boys came home in seventh place, with Jordan Jones, Joe Buckley and Lucas Hayes clocking just under 30 minutes.

Jones ran the sixth overall fastest leg in 9mins 17secs.

The under 15s girls – Siobhan Gregory, Lucia Meloni and Olivia Doodson – claimed 16th place.

Ashley Nemits ran the second fastest time on the second leg of the under 13s girls’ race in 11mins 18secs, while Orla Gregory completed the first leg in 11mins 31secs and Rebecca Nixon finished off in 11mins 41secs as the team finished 11th.

Warrington's under 13s girls' B team of Isobel Houghton, Maisie Bell and Eva Ferris also ran a solid relay on a rain-soaked course around the Etihad Stadium to come home 26th.

For the boys, Rhys Hopkins led the way with a first leg of 11mins 30secs, with Reece Connell and Finlay Smith taking the A team to 22nd place.

Danny Hartland, Gareth McClory and William Bainbridge steered the B team to 25th spot in 37mins 11secs.
