WOLVES boss Tony Smith wants his team to win the League Leaders’ Shield for their supporters.

The club are offering free coach travel to the game at Hull FC tomorrow, Friday, a game The Wire need to avoid defeat in to finish top of the league for the first time since 2011.

Smith hopes there is a big take-up on the offer to help the team out in the cauldron-like atmosphere of the KCOM Stadium.

“We usually get a great following over there and we really need people to turn out,” he said.

“We want to repay them with a good performance and a little bit of silverware to celebrate.

“While it’s not the big one that we’re all working towards, it would still be a nice achievement along the way. We want to get as much silverware as we can.”

Wolves and Hull have now faced off for both trophies on offer so far in 2016 and could yet meet again in the Super League Grand Final on October 8.

However, Smith is not surprised it has come down to the two of them again.

“Good teams play against each other for the big prizes, that’s the way it should be,” he said.

“The fact we play each other in the last round is probably a little manufactured. When they set the Super 8s up I’m sure they had some suspicions as to who could be one, two and three.

“We know if we put out a good performance, it gives us a good chance of coming away with the League Leaders’ Shield. If we don’t, then we don’t deserve to win it.”

“It’s a good chance for both teams. We know it’s still in our hands and that’s the important bit.

“There were some obstacles last week that we couldn’t overcome and we need to make sure we get past everything thrown our way.”
