WOLVES prop Ryan Bailey says a clash between his side and Hull FC is ‘the Challenge Cup Final everyone wanted’.

The Wire will be playing in their first Wembley final since 2012, while the Black and Whites will be looking to banish their record of never having won there.

Bailey, a veteran of six Challenge Cup Finals during his time at Leeds, says the atmosphere on Saturday will be special in what he says could be his last chance to play at Wembley.

“This is probably the final everyone wanted,” he said.

“Both sets of fans are passionate and will be there in their numbers.

“Wembley is a magical place, they say Old Trafford is the Theatre of Dreams but there really is nothing like playing at Wembley.

“All the fans love going there and the atmosphere is always electric. It would be good to get out there because it could be my last chance.”

Bailey played in five Challenge Cup Finals without success before the Rhinos’ victory over Castleford in 2014, including defeats against Wolves in 2010 and 2012.

The former England international says he can see similarities between today’s vintage and the Wolves sides that caused him cup heartache.

“Back then they were a tight-knit group and I can see parallels in that with this squad,” he said.

“When I first came here, we went to Tenerife and I realised everyone plays for each other.

“I’d lost five finals while playing so there was a bit of a hoodoo hanging over me but finally managed to win it in my last year at Leeds.

“It was a great way to round off my time there but hopefully we can bring the trophy back here for the first time in a few years.”

Many members of the Wolves squad will be playing at the national stadium for the first time and Bailey had a word of advice for them.

“I’d tell the guys just to enjoy it as it could be your last one,” he said.

“We can’t play the game in our heads over and over before we get out there as we’ll end up burning ourselves out.

“There’s plenty of experience in that dressing room and we’ll play our part with the younger guys in giving them tips on how to handle big occasions, some people might get worked up too much but we’ll help them through it.

“No-one remembers losers, we want to create some history, climb those stairs and get our hands on the trophy at the end of the game. Everyone’s excited and we can’t wait to get going.”
