WOLVES boss Tony Smith is hopeful Stefan Ratchford will be fit for next week’s Challenge Cup semi-final against Wakefield.

The full-back, who scored Wolves’ first try in the 34-30 win over Huddersfield Giants, came off in the first half after suffering a blow to the head.

After the game, Smith delivered an update on the utility man’s fitness.

“Stefan is OK, he's coherent so I'm pretty positive for next week,” he said.

“We have a seven day turnaround so he qualifies but we didn't want to take any chances.

“He was very close to passing the head test for going back on but we thought it best to take him out of there.”

Prop Ryan Bailey also had a spell off the field with a head injury but was able to rejoin the action later in the game.
