CASTLEFORD Tigers host Warrington on Sunday, kick off 3.30pm, having cemented their place in the Super 8s thanks to last weekend’s 38-24 home success against Catalans Dragons.

Although currently without the services of Wolves legend Joel Monaghan through a shoulder injury, wing replacement Ryan Hampshire – on loan from Wigan – bagged a brace of tries in that victory.

Opposite winger Denny Solomona remains Super League’s top try scorer this year with 24.

Full back Luke Dorn, always a handful for defences and set to retire at the end of the year, was another two-try hero against Les Catalans and is set to make his 250th Super League appearance.

Hooker Paul McShane and 2015 England call-up Luke Gale, currently Super League’s second highest goal-kicker, have formed a strong partnership in the halves in recent matches.

Head coach Daryl Powell also has ex-England number seven Rangi Chase, first brought over from Australia by Cas in 2009, waiting for his return debut after re-signing for the Jungle men from Leigh Centurions.

They will be without Nathan Massey, though, with a fractured wrist.

The Wire were convincing 56-12 victors when the sides met at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on March 18 but they let a 14-0 lead slip before falling 34-14 to Cas in the Magic Weekend encounter at Newcastle United’s St James’ Park on May 21.

As Ben Currie said this week: “It’s 1-1 at the moment so this is a decider between us. To chuck that lead away in Newcastle was heart-breaking, so we’ve got one to get back on them.”

Tigers coach Daryl Powell has brought in Tom Holmes to replace Massey in the only change to their 19-man squad from last week.

Powell said: “Last week’s win was important and it makes us a little bit more comfortable now with what we are doing for the rest of the season.

"We didn’t want to be in the Middle 8s and I’m sure nobody does.

"Now we want to make sure we end this season as high as we possibly can.

"This Sunday we need to make sure we play as well as we did with the ball last weekend, and play a little bit better defensively as we conceded some soft tries last week."
